President Donald Trump praised Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes’s MAGA family members and told OutKick founder and conservative radio host Clay Travis he’s invited the Super Bowl losers to the White House.
Over the weekend, Travis scored an exclusive sit-down interview with Trump aboard Air Force One that featured plenty of questions you probably wouldn’t hear in a legacy media interview.
That includes an extended chunk about sports, naturally, during which Trump gushed about the quarterback’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, and mother, Randi Mahomes — as well as explained why this year’s Super Bowl LIX losers have scored an invite:
TRAVIS: The Philadelphia Eagles are coming to the White House soon.
TRUMP: Yes.
Travis: I know you were at the Super Bowl. They booed Santa Claus, Philadelphia Eagle fans did back in the day. I know you’re a big sports fan.
TRUMP: Yes.
TRAVIS: What did it mean that you were cheered at the Super Bowl? What does it reflect that sports fans seem to be coming together for you and that the Eagles are coming to the White House this time, they didn’t want to come the last time. How have things changed?
TRUMP: Well — and actually they did want to come. A lot of people wanted to come, including the coach who was terrific guy by the way. But the coach wanted to come, the general manager wanted to come, the owner wanted to come. I mean, there had a lot of people wanted to come and some of the players wanted to come.
And I just said, just forget it because —
TRAVIS: Right.
TRUMP: …I also had the problem with the San Francisco basketball team.
TRAVIS: Golden State Warriors.
TRUMP: They said, well, we’ll think about it. I said, you don’t have to think. You’re uninvited. I said, you if have to think about it.
TRAVIS: Right.
TRUMP: After I did that, you know, most people did come, but people don’t write about that.
TRAVIS: Yes.
TRUMP: The baseball teams came, the ice hockey teams came. But we had one problem with football. New England came, they all came.
TRAVIS: Yes.
TRUMP: We had — look, it’s a great honor to come and I think it’s a great — let me just grab that, OK?
I look forward to having Eagles. And one other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that because they missed their turn because of COVID.
TRAVIS: Oh, that’s great. What — I know —
TRAVIS: I know Randi Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes’ mom, she sent a video that OutKick shared, right, before the election endorsing you. And I know Brittany Mahomes is a big fan.
TRUMP: I love those two women. They’re so great and so loyal. I think they did. I met, as you know, I met Patrick’s mother.
TRAVIS: Yes.
TRUMP: At the game.
TRAVIS: Yes.
TRUMP: Just before the game started.
TRAVIS: Right.
TRUMP: She came over. And Brittany, I’ve seen so much of Brittany that just, you know, being so loyal and great and beautiful. So it’s really nice.
