Tiger Woods was roasted on social media Sunday after he publicly announced his relationship with Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife before asking the media to respect his privacy.

On Sunday evening, Woods posted a pair of photos of himself with Vanessa Trump, who was married to Trump Jr. for 13 years before their split in 2018.

“Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side!” Woods said in the post. “We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.”

Many social media users were quick to point out the contradictory nature of Woods asking for privacy after announcing to millions of followers that he’s dating the former daughter-in-law of the President of the United States.

Prior to Sunday’s announcement, Woods’s connections to the Trump family had gone back years. Woods and President Donald Trump have golfed together countless times in the past; and the president awarded Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his first term in 2019.

Hours before Super Bowl LIX in February, Woods and Trump again hit the links at the president’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
